My Little Boy

by: EJ on Wed, Sep 26 2007

At the age of 6 months, my son came ill with 40 degree temps, extreme laboured breathing, unfocused, not eating or drinking, pale, blue lips, sweaty and smelly. I took him to the local GP where they told me to take him to hospital. On arrival they took him straight through and put him on oxygen, then a drip, then another. Heart monitors and leads every where. blood test after blood test. Trying to touch him through all the hard work from the Dr’s was heart breaking. Xrays showed nothing- all clear.

Every thing started to settle once they got his oxygen and blood levels from a low 79 to stable at 92 with full clean oxygen. The doctors told me he had Bronchiolitis, similar to asthma 5 days later he was taken off the oxygen and released 3 days after that.

Well my little boy is now 2 and since his first attack he has had 17 admissions into hospital and 6 that I treated from home. Not as extreme as the first, but similar. No Dr has yet told me or given us a treatment that helps it. He has had his toncils [tonsils] and abnoids [adenoids] removed and 2 sets of gromets [grommets].

Some Dr’s say it is asthma and others say Bronch. All that I want is for someone to tell me what is going on. No one has looked at his whole history of illness. through out my pregnancy they told me he was going to be a dwarf and have downsyndrom [Down syndrome]. When he was born he was perfect, just little at 5 pound. All he had was low blood sugar levels which he had to go on the drip for 2 days and stay in special care for a week. Also now, he instantly falls to the ground grabbing his head screaming. All I know is that my little boy is a fighter and all he needs is love.
