my case of pityriasis rosea

by: SB on Wed, Aug 29 2007

For me, it started about 5 days ago, I noticed what looked like a heat rash on my chest, but then I noticed a big oval, redish/ brown spot on my breast. I thought maybe the underwire from my bra had aggrevated the skin. Well, the next day I noticed the rash had spread to my collar bones and neck, and it started to itch at night. The next day it was all over my back, so I decided to go to the doctor. With in five minutes, he diagnosed me. I was horrified when he told me that it could last 6-8 weeks! I thought about all the upcoming events I have, and how I will be looking! Well, now, I could care less about the looks, my biggest concern is that it itches terribly! I have tried cortizone creams and other anti-itch remedies, but nothing really seems to work. I just read that sunlight helps, but I notice it itches more when I get warm.

So, I guess I just have to grin and bare it. My doctor told me that there really wasn’t much we can do. If the itching gets worse he can put me on a course of steriods, but I am currently breastfeeding so I would prefer not to do that option. Oh well, guess I just have to hang in there.
